Course/Activity Information

The Compassion of the Samaritan: Loving by Bearing the Pain of the Other is the theme chosen by the Holy Father for the 34th World Day of the Sick. The Spanish word convivir, which means "to live together," reminds us that we are called to live in communion, not in isolation and that bearing the pain of another requires proximity. The purpose of the gathering is to unite those called to spiritual accompaniment and those serving in the Church’s healing ministries for a day of renewal, nurturing vocation, drawing strength from ministerial partners and reigniting a spirit of radical compassion for all.

Objectives:

  • To nurture the spiritual life of those called to accompaniment.
  • To increase the visibility and collegiality of local professional laity.
  • To strengthen collaborative partnerships between sponsoring Catholic ministries.

Certification Competencies:

PPS3, PPS5, PIC3, OL1, OL5
